FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

What to Expect During Your Session

When you arrive, we'll take a few minutes to get to know each other. If you're coming with children, we'll give them time to settle into the studio and feel comfortable. The studio is calm, welcoming, and family-friendly, with toys and children's books that little ones are always happy to explore.

Throughout the session, I'll gently guide you with simple posing and natural interactions. You don't need to know what to do—that's my job. I'll show you where to stand, where to look, and how to interact with each other so your photographs feel natural, relaxed, and authentic.

Children have their own pace, and that's completely normal. A family session is never a race, and I don't expect children to sit still or smile on command.

Parents, Relax

One of the questions I hear most often before a session is what if a child doesn't cooperate. The answer is simple—don't worry. Children don't need to be perfect. I don't expect them to look at the camera all the time or sit quietly throughout the session. Their curiosity, shyness and playfulness are exactly what make family photographs so special.

During the session, try not to worry about correcting your children, asking them to smile, or reminding them to look at the camera. Let me engage with them through conversation and play. Children respond much better when they feel relaxed.

The best thing you can bring to your session is simply a good mood.

What to Wear

Your clothing has a big impact on the overall look of your photographs, so I recommend keeping it simple and timeless.

The best choices include:

  • Neutral and earthy tones such as white, beige, cream, grey, brown, olive green, and light blue.

  • Solid colours or very subtle patterns.

  • Natural fabrics such as linen, cotton, and knitwear.

Try to coordinate colours between family members, but there's no need to wear identical outfits. The goal is for everyone's clothing to complement one another rather than match perfectly.

I recommend avoiding:

  • Large logos or printed text.

  • Bright neon colours.

  • Very busy or high-contrast patterns.

  • Clothing that feels uncomfortable or doesn't reflect your personality.

If you're unsure what to wear, feel free to send me photos of a few outfit options before your session, and I'll be happy to help you choose.

What to Bring

If you're coming with young children, I recommend bringing:

  • Water or your child's favourite drink.

  • A few small snacks.

  • Tissues or wet wipes.

  • A spare outfit if needed.

  • A favourite soft toy or blanket if it helps your child feel secure.

How Long Does the Session Last?

Your time in the studio is planned so we can create a beautiful variety of family photographs without feeling rushed. At the same time, the session itself moves at a pace that works well for children.

As soon as we've captured a pose or moment, we'll move on to the next one. This keeps children engaged and prevents them from becoming bored or restless, making the experience enjoyable for everyone.

If we need a short break for snacks, changing clothes, or simply taking a moment to relax, we'll do exactly that. There is no pressure and no strict timetable. My goal is for your family to enjoy the experience and leave with pleasant memories—not just beautiful photographs.
