PREGNANCY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION
When Is the Best Time for a Maternity Session?
The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is usually between 29 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. At this stage, your baby bump is beautifully defined, while most expectant mothers still feel comfortable enough to enjoy the session. Of course, every pregnancy is different, and the most important thing is that you feel well. Over the years, I've photographed mums-to-be just a few days before their due date, so don't worry if you think you've left it a little late!
What to Expect During Your Session
Your session takes place in my studio and typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of outfit changes and the pace that feels most comfortable for you. Throughout the session, we'll explore different poses, lighting, and styling to create a collection of images that suits you beautifully. I'll take portraits of you on your own as well as photographs with your partner.
You don't need any experience in front of the camera or know how to pose. I'll guide you every step of the way, showing you flattering poses and helping you feel relaxed so we can create a varied gallery of timeless photographs.
Who Can Come With Me?
Your husband or partner, as well as older children, are always welcome to join the session.
I know that pets are an important part of many families; however, unfortunately I'm not able to accommodate them in the studio at the moment.
What to Wear
Waiting for you in the studio is a carefully selected collection of maternity gowns and flowing fabrics, all of which are available for you to use during your session.
There is no limit to the number of outfit changes—we'll adapt the session to your energy, your preferences, and the style of photographs you'd like to create.
Alongside the studio wardrobe, I also recommend bringing a few favourite pieces from your own wardrobe, such as:
-
Your favourite pair of regular (non-maternity) jeans.
-
A fitted dress that beautifully highlights your baby bump.
-
An oversized white shirt.
-
A soft cardigan, jumper or blazer that can be worn open.
-
Any outfit that makes you feel confident and reflects your personal style.
A combination of the studio wardrobe and your own clothing often creates the most beautiful and varied collection of photographs.
Underwear
For your session, I recommend bringing a nude-coloured bra and briefs, with or without straps. Neutral tones are the least visible under clothing and provide the greatest flexibility when choosing dresses.
If you don't have nude underwear, a black set is also an excellent choice, as it generally remains discreet in photographs and works beautifully with many of the outfits available in the studio.
